How much does renting a storage unit cost?
Our rates vary depending on size and the type of storage needed (indoor, outdoor, parking, etc.). Call Uncle Bill's today and we will help you determine the most suitable size and type to fit your needs and budget.
What is the minimum rental commitment?
The minimum rental is one month. We rent on a month to month basis, and will prorate you in for the first month, then go month to month from there if you are going to be renting longer than one month. There is no security deposit required.
What kind of information is needed to rent a storage space?
To rent a storage unit at Uncle Bill's we will need the following:
- To speak with the person whose name will be on the account
- Mailing address / e-mail address
- Two phone numbers
- Driver's License or ID
- Date of birth
- 1st month's rent payment
How far in advance can I book a reservation?
We do not take reservations. We are a first come, first serve business. We usually have minimal availability and we advise renting a unit as early as possible to make sure you get the size and type you would like.

What's the difference between climate control and standard storage?
We offer standard drive-up dry storage that is equivalent to storing your items in an outdoor garage. We also offer climate control units that are more like storing your items in a spare room in your house. Our climate control rooms are kept between 55-79 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity is kept under 60%. Our Climate Control units are located in a separate building that has central air and heat. Climate control protects against dust mites, mildew, rust, paper rot and degradation of wood items.
What type of items benefit from climate control storage?
Electronics, televisions, computers, appliances, paper products, photos, musical instruments & equipment, antiques & high end furninture, bedding, clothing, leather, metals subject to rust, artwork, paintings, & books.
Is climate control more secure?
The climate control buildings offer an extra level of protection with an outside security door. We also have a HD security camera covering each doorway and hallway. We also have a motion censored lighting system that lights up the hallways upon entering to provide safe and easy access 24/7.
Who has access to my storage space?
You are the only one with access to your space. You lock it, you keep the key.
What do I need to do when I move out?
Please notify us 14 days in advance of your planned move out date. When you're finished with the space, all we ask is that it's completely empty and your lock is removed, so you won't be charged further rent.
Why I am still being charged for a space that I've vacated?
There are two reasons: you left your lock on your unit when you moved out, or your space is still occupied with some of your belongings. If you believe there is an error in your billing, please contact us by phone.
What happens if I leave items in my space that I don't want?
Any items left in your space are your responsibility. We will continue to charge you rent until your space is empty and unlocked.
What is the easiest way to pay my bill?
Our Auto Pay option is the easiest way. No more check writing. No more postage. No late payments. Payments are on time, every time.
Do you provide locks?
Locks are not included on the price of rental. We highly recommend high security disc locks, and have them for sale for $15 after tax. The locks are warranted for a lifetime, and we will replace them if they no longer function.
When do you hold auctions?
We hold our delinquent tenant auctions on the 3rd Saturday of every month at 9:00 am sharp. Come to the front desk and we will instruct you where the first unit up for auction that day is. We only accept cash for bids on the units. You will have until the following Monday morning to clear the contents of the unit, or you can rent the unit for a month and remove the items at your leisure.
What is your refund policy?
We do not pro-rate rent upon the vacating of a storage unit. We will refund half of your monthly rent payment if you are moved out within the first 15 days of your billing cycle and have given 14 days notice that you are vacating. To schedule your 14 day move out notice please call the office at (309) 451-4500. There are no refunds on merchandise.
What Information Do You Gather About Me?
We collect from you only the personal information you voluntarily provide in order to deliver the best possible service. If you choose to process an online payment, or reservation we ask you to provide us with information necessary to process your order which may include, but not be limited to, name, physical address, telephone number, email address, company name, title, credit card number, expiration date, and storage unit number. We collect your email address so that we can send you confirmation of your transaction and account status. We will never share, sell, or rent individual personal information with anyone without your advance permission or unless ordered by a court of law. The credit card information that is collected is used strictly for billing purposes.
Sharing Your Personal Information
Uncle Bill's Self Storage does not sell information to unrelated third parties. Uncle Bill's Self Storage does send your contact and order information to the facility that you selected for purposes of satisfying your payment or reservation.

A session cookie is a small file placed on your computer which acts as a unique identifier to keep track of the information you have entered. Without the session cookie, our site cannot track the information you are entering and you will be unable to complete your transaction. A session cookie does not remain on your machine after you close your web browser window. Our session cookie contains none of your personal information, and cannot be used to track you around the web. It can only be used by our web site to identify the information you have entered during the transaction process which is required to complete the transaction.
How we protect your credit card and other personal information?
When you input your credit card number and other personal information, we use an encrypted form to scramble the information before it’s sent so that even if anyone intercepts the information, it is highly unlikely that they will be able to read or use it. In addition, we take appropriate security measures to safeguard your personal information.
